Shadowfax Makes Prism AI Reporting and Mobile Dictation Free for All Radiologists in Training

New training license gives residents, fellows, and other physicians in training no-cost access to AI-generated report drafts, advanced speech-to-text, and smartphone dictation for the duration of training

MEMPHIS, August 17, 2026: Shadowfax AI today announced that Prism, its standalone AI-powered radiology reporting platform, is available at no cost to radiology residents, fellows, and other physicians in training for the full duration of their training. Eligible users also receive access to Shadowfax Mobile, the companion application that turns a smartphone into a dictaphone and command surface for the Prism desktop workflow.

The program expands access to modern reporting tools at the point when radiologists develop the habits that will shape their careers. Eligible trainees can apply using their institutional email addresses.

“Radiology trainees should not have to spend thousands of dollars or wait for an enterprise purchasing decision to use modern reporting software,” said Reed Branson, Chief Executive Officer of Shadowfax AI. “If legacy tools are not good enough for the future of radiology, they are not good enough for the people training to lead it. We are giving every eligible trainee Prism for free for as long as they are in training.”

Prism is designed around pertinent-positive dictation. Radiologists enter the indication, relevant priors, patient age when needed, and meaningful observations. Prism combines those inputs with the selected template to prepare structured findings and impression language, including follow-up language when appropriate, for the radiologist to review and edit.

Core capabilities available through the training license include:

  • AI-generated report drafts: Prism transforms dictated positive findings and relevant context into structured findings and impression language for radiologist review.
  • Advanced speech-to-text: Reporting-focused speech recognition lets users speak naturally and spend less time correcting transcription errors.
  • Pertinent-positive workflows: Trainees can focus dictation on clinically meaningful observations instead of repeatedly speaking normal boilerplate.
  • Personal reporting tools: Favorites, standard and custom templates, macros, shortcuts, and workflow preferences help each radiologist develop an efficient reporting style.
  • Shadowfax Mobile: The iOS and Android companion app streams dictation into the active desktop workflow, eliminating the need to purchase an expensive, corded, single-purpose dictaphone.

Prism creates report drafts while preserving radiologist control. Users review, edit, copy, and decide when report language is ready for use; the platform does not autonomously finalize reports.

“Reporting is a clinical skill, and the software surrounding it should reduce distraction rather than add to it,” said Michael Kelleher, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Shadowfax AI. “By letting trainees dictate the relevant findings and then review a coherent structured draft, Prism keeps their attention on interpretation, communication, and the quality of the final report.”

Shadowfax Mobile extends that workflow beyond a traditional wired microphone. The app pairs with Prism on the workstation, delivers low-latency dictation into the active report, and provides controls for moving through the reporting workflow while the desktop remains the primary workspace for composing and reviewing the report.

“The reporting tools physicians use every day have a direct effect on speed, cognitive load, and quality of life,” said Brittany Branson, MD, Chief Product Officer of Shadowfax AI. “We want trainees to build efficient habits with software that respects their time, works the way modern software should, and does not tether them to another expensive piece of hardware.”

The free program is limited to physicians currently enrolled in radiology training and is not available to physicians training in other specialties. Shadowfax will manually review applicants based on their institutional email domains. Approved licenses remain free for the duration of the applicant’s eligible training period.

Radiology residents, fellows, and other eligible radiologists in training can apply for a free Prism training license at shadowfaxai.com/trainee-license.html.
